Vor ein paar Tagen ist Elliott Smith gestorben, ein toller Musiker. Den meisten (wenn Łberhaupt) nur durch seinen Beitrag zum “Good Will Hunting”-Soundtrack bekannt. Smiths Musik war gepršgt von Melancholie und Depression. Gestorben ist er genau daran: an Melancholie und Depression.

Iím going out sleepwalking
Where mute memories start talking
The boss that couldnít help but hurt you
And the pretty thing he made desert you
Iím going out now like a baby
A naïve unsatisfiable baby
Grabbing onto whateverís around
For the soaring high or the crushing down
With hidden cracks that donít show
But that constantly just grow
Iím looking for the man that attacked me
While everybody was laughing at me
You beat it in me that part of you
But Iím gonna split us back in two
Tired of living in a cloud
If youíre gonna say shit now youíll do it out loud
Itís 2:45 in the morning
And Iím putting myself on warning
For waking up in an unknown place
With a recollection youíve half erased
Looking for somebodyís arms to
Wave away past harms
Iím walking out on center circle
The both of you can just fade to black
Iím walking out on center circle
Been pushed away and Iíll never go back
(Elliott Smith – “2:45 AM”)
